Door box for interior doors

The door frame for interior doors is a link between the door passage and the door itself. It is needed as a supporting part of the structure, on which the entire power load is concentrated. It is fixed rigidly to the doorway, and the door hinges, doors, platband and related fittings are already mounted on it. It also performs an aesthetic role and can be both a separate component of the assembly and a continuation of a homogeneous structure.

Door frame materials

The door frame, as a rule, matches the material with the selected door leaf. Between the rooms you can put an iron door, for example armored, and then the box will be steel. In public places, offices, shops now put plastic and aluminum doors, and the box in this case will be from the same material.For pendulum, sliding and glass doors of the loot (frame) can be made of MDF or aluminum.

For the manufacture of interior door frame use the following materials:

  • Solid bar with the chosen sinus, that is, the porch. The timber must be of good quality, dried, without cracks and knots, because the internal stress of the wood between the fibers over time and under the influence of external factors can lead to the deformation of the web.
  • Wooden array. Elite tree species are oak, beech and ash. The doors of mahogany are very beautiful: cherries, alder, walnut and eucalyptus. Of the cheaper species, spruce, linden, birch, maple are used, pine is the most suitable.

This material requires final processing: grinding, puttying, roasting, painting, stain, varnish or mastic coating on request.

  • Spliced timber along the entire length of the product with the use of technology "miniship" or glued laminated timber from small pieces of wood using the same technology. Retail sizes - 35x70x2100 mm. This material also needs finishing.
  • Bars from MDF and HDF. Chipboard material impregnated with medium and high density adhesives, glued with natural veneer.The thickness of the bars is from 30 to 60 mm, depending on the weight of the door leaf.
  • Plank Fiberboard - it is an extruded laminated composite material having the necessary strength. It is covered with an ekoshpon, which is artificial.

Types of door frames

There are several types of door frames.

Corner

Universal box suitable for all types of walls. It is a design of decorative casing attached to the frame. Corner box requires additional sealing gaps between the frame and the door leaf.

This will increase sound insulation and eliminate drafts.

Face

It is used most often in the opening with thin partitions, for example, from drywall. This type of door frames are mounted in a metal frame to increase the gain of the structure. Otherwise, the non-reinforced design will lead to the opening of the door mechanism as a whole.

Embracing

View of the box, consisting of a frame and dobor with a casing. The best option, allowing no worries about the preparation, refinement and subsequent finishing of the doorway. As a rule, this type of box is already provided with sealing elements.

Telescopic

Represents a set of planks, interconnected in the manner of designer or laminate locks. Simplifies the process of fitting the door frame to the features of the opening.

It does not need gluing elements, as it fits between the grooves.

Profile configuration

Door box for interior doors is usually a rectangular timber with a selected quarter for the porch.

Standard sizes are as follows:

  • Thickness - 35 mm;
  • Width - 60, 70, 80 and 100 mm;
  • Length - 2100 mm;
  • The width of the porch is 30 mm and the depth is 10 mm.

Pretend can be made in a semicircle or ribs. For wide doorways in the timber from the back side, opposite the porch, make a quarter for dobra 10/10 mm. Recently, more often produce profiled telescopic boxes, in the side grooves of which are inserted additional frames and platbands that come in the kit. In the area of the porch is a groove for fasteners seal. If there is no such groove, a self-adhesive seal is mounted.

It increases sound insulation and prevents the door from slamming loudly when closing.

Ways to assemble the box

When buying a door unit, the box to the door can be attached already assembled, but most often the door is completed with special bars made of the same material as the door itself.Sometimes the box has to be purchased separately. Interroom box assembled has a U-shape, consisting of two vertical bars and the upper horizontal. A threshold in the form of a lower horizontal bar is added to the O-shape.

Large and thick boxes collected using spike connection. To do this, grooves are cut out at the edges of one web, and grooves corresponding to the dimensions of grooves are made on the other web. The studded connection is drilled through, and a key of more dense wood is driven into the hole, or the joint is tightened with self-tapping screws. Nails can also be used. When assembling used wood glue.

For the rest of the boxes of wood, it is enough to make washed down the bars at 90 or 45 degrees and pull them together with self-tapping screws. All elements of the box with decorative features, filmed strictly under 45 degrees. For this work, a face saw or hammer with a fixed hacksaw is necessary. The hacksaw should have a blade with a fine tooth, for example, on metal. Preparations reinforced by artificial veneer are difficult to prepare in another way,because to putty or hide with any other method inaccuracy gash is simply impossible. These types include telescopic boxes.

Installation

Installation of the door frame can be done in different ways.

  • Inner way. Based on the fastening of the box in several places: in the hinges, under the lock plate and in the wall. In these places, the box is fastened with screws, after which the spacers are installed, and the resulting space is filled with foam. This method provides a strong and durable mount, but requires extreme accuracy in the calculations and fitting the door, because after the foam hardens, it will not be possible to adjust the door.
  • Fastening on the bolts. Reliable and time-tested mounting option.
  1. Holes are drilled in the box.
  2. The box is applied to the opening, they indicate the places where it is necessary to make holes in the wall.
  3. The box is attached to the opening.
  4. Bolts are decorated with caps.
  • Mount on suspensions. Suspensions are plates attached to the box. After fixing them, the box is placed in the doorway, leveled by level and fixed by means of bolts in suspensions.This method is applicable only to the finishing of the room, as the suspensions on the wall must be hidden with plaster.

Casing Box for a wooden house

Houses made of natural wood have the “breathe” or “walk” properties. This is manifested in the drying of wood and the drawdown of the house itself. So that the doorway does not lead along with the house, and the rigid door construction does not interfere with “walking” the wall, a casing box (ossyachyku) is placed in the place of the opening. There are three main ways to install it.

They differ in the different location of the spike:

  • In thorn monolith. When the canvas box has a monolithic T-shaped with a spike in the middle, and the groove for it is in the wall opening.
  • In the deck. The canvases of the box are monolithic U-shaped with a groove in the middle, and the spike is made on the wall opening.

With the help of a sliding mortgage bar. This is the easiest way. It should be considered in more detail.

For work you will need the following tools:

  • fifty board;
  • self-tapping screws.
  • sealant;
  • roulette;
  • level;
  • construction stapler;
  • screwdriver;
  • chainsaw;
  • bar 50/50 mm;
  • Chainsaw cut out the doorway of the desired size.In the middle of its vertical sides choose a groove under the bar. The same chainsaw cut off the bar is less than the length of the groove by 50 mm. You can not use a solid bar, and collect it from the pieces. They slaughtered him in the groove so that he entered freely, but did not hang out. It is not necessary to fix it, it is sliding.
  • Board must be the desired width. Cut it in length by 50 mm less than the height of the doorway. In the upper part, a quarter is cut with a width of 50 mm and a depth of 20 mm for the horizontal part. On the sides of the doorway they shoot strips of jute with a stapler, leaving the timber free so as not to wrap on the screws. Insert the board into the opening and level it. Screw the screws 65-75 mm length through the bar, embedding it in the canvas, while making sure not to flash the bar through. Fastening points are glued.
  • Cut along the length of the horizontal board. At the top, a quarter, put a sealant and drive it into place. Fasten the box to each other with self-tapping screws from the back of a horizontal board. The distance remaining free above it does not in any way zapenyvayut, and fill with tow.

The advantages of the telescopic box

In wooden houses, especially old buildings, often have to deal with the problem of fitting the door frame under the deformed opening or the width of the walls.Before the advent of telescopic doorframes, these tasks were solved by using additional masks and camouflaging them with platbands. In order for the door to function properly, the doorway must be a single plane on both sides. The telescopic device of the box solves the problem of fitting: retractable fragments allow the box to fit to any thickness of the opening.

Thanks to the elements moving in the grooves, it is possible to adjust the degree of fit of the box to the wall.

Telescopic boxes are made of wood or MDF. Aluminum models are less common: they are more practical, do not crack, have a longer service life. Covered can be any color to match the door.

Installation of the telescopic box is simple, does not require professional skills. At installation the fixture which then should be decorated is not used.

In the case of repair, the box can be easily removed, and upon completion of construction and finishing works, put back in place. Telescopic boxes are suitable for absolutely any type of building. They can be successfully applied both in new buildings and in the houses of the old foundation.

Tips for choosing

Before choosing a doorframe for an interior door, you should carefully align all dimensions, because the slightest error or inaccuracy of measurements can lead to the inability to install the frame.

The door frame should be selected from the same material as the door.

A solid MDF box will not be suitable for a massive wooden lumber door, as the frame simply deforms under the weight of natural material, and the door will cease to function normally. In the building stores that sell doors, you can contact a consultant for help in calculations. As a rule, manufacturers supply their products with special tables of standards and classification, according to which it is possible to choose the most suitable option.
