Enamel NC-132: properties and characteristics

The enamel NTS-132 has been produced since the 70s of the last century, and it is hard to believe that at present they have not yet invented paint and varnish compositions that would surpass it in their characteristics. In contrast to paints, enamels form a smooth, uniform layer after complete solidification, protecting the surface from various influences.

Initially, the main difference between enamel and paint was the kind of diluting liquid. For enamel coatings applied volatile compositions on an organic basis. In the case of paint, it could be drying oils or plain water. Over time, more and more water-dispersion enamels and acrylic-based paintwork materials began to appear.

The letters NTS indicate that this enamel belongs to the group of nitrocellulose, that is, made on the basis of nitrocellulose paintwork material. It is a white fibrous structure, friable in appearance, resembling ordinary cellulose and obtained from it by treatment with nitrogen.

The composition of the NC -132 includes volatile and non-volatile parts. The first group includes alkyd resins (No188 by resin classification), colloxylin-nitrocellulose with a nitrogen content of 10.7-12.2%, plasticizing agents, and pigmenting particles. Non-volatile group is different for different types of enamels. It includes either 40% toluene, butyl or ethyl alcohol, about 15% of active high-boiling solvents and a little less than low-boiling. In the second case, xylene is added instead of toluene, and the solvents reach 30%. To enhance the decorative properties, a smooth distribution over the surface can be added additive against flotation and an additive to increase the fire resistance.

• SC-132 "K" designed for brushing and has a certain thickness, but it can be diluted with a solvent to a more liquid consistency;
• NTs-132 "P" - liquid form suitable for spraying with a spray.

Technical characteristics of enamel.

• The ambient air temperature for the use of paintwork materials should be in the range from -12 to +60 C.
• 120 minutes after application, the surface treated with NC-132 may become slightly sticky. Full use is possible a day after staining.

• The shelf life when kept in a sealed package without violating storage conditions is set at 1 year.

NTs-132 enamels are produced in a variety of convenient formats in banks ranging from 0.7 kg, 1 kg, 1.7 kg and to large barrels for industrial facilities of 17, 25 kg and more.

The color scheme is also regulated by the state standard. The choice of shades is quite wide and allows you to choose the right color for any kind of finish. Light shades are presented standard white, two types of light gray and cream, light beige.

Dark gamut includes dark blue-green, tobacco, dark gray, gray-blue, gray-green, protective, black. If you need to finish the surface more brightly, shades are suitable: red, red-brown, orange-brown, golden-yellow.

NTs-132 enamels go on sale in ready-to-use liquid form. After opening the can, you can immediately begin finishing work with a spray gun, paintbrush or roller. If nevertheless there is a need to dilute the product, this is done using solvents.

For the enamel of the NTs-132K type, it is necessary to use the composition 649, and for the NTs-132P - 646 version in accordance with GOST 18188. In any case, the composition in a newly opened jar should be immediately stirred to give it a uniform consistency. The time to achieve hardness and dryness is about 2 hours at a temperature of 20 ° C. If the thermometer reads in a room or outside is different, then the final result can be achieved in other periods.

It is customary to apply two or more layers of paint on the surface to achieve the best covering. The enamel consumption is determined by the characteristic of the opacity of the product. This indicator indicates how many grams of the composition need to be applied to 1 m2. Most of the expense affects the color of the composition. Dark shades: black and dark blue-green require 30 g / m2 enamel, and light - white and cream - 100 g / m2.
