USP foundation (on the insulated Swedish plate)

UWB foundation is a foundation constructed using insulated Swedish plate (UWB). This type is a slab monolithic foundation, which has a floor heating system inside, and is warmed with a foam layer from below.

It can be used on soils with high (and low) moisture content and high groundwater levels. Suitable for the construction of light structures from all major types of materials.

Benefits

  • floor heating system;
  • the upper surface is smooth and even, which does not require additional costs for leveling the floor in the room;
  • the absence of any seams and joints on the surface;
  • reduces the likelihood of freezing and, accordingly, heaving of the soil under the bottom of the building;
  • the construction does not require the use of special (and expensive) equipment;
  • due to good thermal insulation in the future will save money on heating inside the building.

disadvantages

  • not very cheap form of the basis of the structure;
  • cannot be used under buildings with a large mass;
  • not suitable for all types of soil;
  • excludes the construction of a basement or cellar under the building.

Special features

A distinctive feature of this base for the house is the location of a good insulating material below and along its sides (perimeter). Also, additional stiffening ribs are installed at the base of the walls for greater strength and resistance to the force pressing from above. The small thickness of the whole structure makes it possible to reduce the time required for the construction.

Stages of construction

When creating a UWB foundation, there are the following construction stages:

  • creation of a ditch by extraction of the top layer of soil;
  • compaction of the pit bottom with the help of sand and tamping;
  • installation of drainage system of pipes and other communications;
  • backfill of rubble for and its alignment;
  • installation of formwork around the perimeter of the pit;
  • laying side insulation material from the inside around the perimeter of the formwork;
  • laying a double bottom (main) layer of insulation material - extruded polystyrene foam;
  • reinforcement of the structure with the help of reinforcement rods;
  • installation and installation of floor heating;
  • filling with concrete for a thickness of 100mm;
  • alignment of the top layer after hardening of concrete;
  • surface grinding.

Separately, it is worth mentioning the cost of UWB foundation. Its cost is quite high, but it allows saving due to the lack of the need to use special equipment and in the future it will save money on space heating. From all this it follows that this type is quite justified in some cases, but it can in no way be universal for all cases of the need to construct the foundation of a building.
