“Kreps”: reinforced tile adhesive

When performing lining and operating the coating in extreme conditions, special compositions should be used to fix the tile to the surface. One of such compositions is reinforced glue for Kreps tile, which has improved characteristics and is able to withstand additional loads.

Features and benefits

Strengthened glue composition "Kreps" is a dry mixture consisting of particles of 0.63 mm in size, which include:

  • sand;
  • plasticizers;
  • cement;
  • modifying substances.

Before use, the composition is diluted with water, resulting in a dense elastic mass, which has the following technical characteristics:

  • adhesive strength –1 MPa;
  • brand strength - M 75;
  • frost resistance - F 35.

All these parameters are an order of magnitude higher than the compositions labeled "Standard", which can only be used to glue conventional ceramic tiles. When using reinforced compositions, the duration of open work time is increased up to 20 minutes, during which the laying can be corrected. In this case, the compositions have greater resistance to slipping - no more than 5 mm.

In addition, they are able to withstand temperatures in a wider range, which allows the use of reinforced compositions for laying tiles on a heated floor. Kreps mixes are sold in packs of 5 and 25 kg and meet certain specifications.

In addition to improved performance, the advantages of the Kreps lining mixes include:

  • Good frost resistance (up to 35 cycles), which allows them to be used for laying tiles on the facades of buildings.
  • High moisture resistance, which makes it possible to use them in rooms with high humidity.
  • Relatively low material consumption (2-3 kg / m3).
  • Quick setting
  • Possibility to use at temperatures from + 5 ° С.

In addition, some compounds additionally include refractory additives and antifreeze, further improving their quality, enhancing strength and durability.

Field of use

Increased technical characteristics significantly expand the scope of application of the adhesive composition: from the installation of simple ceramics to the laying of porcelain stoneware and slabs of artificial and natural stone.

Such glue reliably interlocks the plate material with the surfaces of:

  • cement, cement-lime plaster;
  • concrete and reinforced concrete;
  • drywall;
  • tongue-and-groove and plaster plates.

It also securely holds tiles on the floor, external and internal walls of buildings, fireplaces and stoves, which allows it to be used:

  • in the corridors and office space;
  • in pools, saunas and bathrooms;
  • on open terraces and verandas.

In addition, it is often used for cladding parapets, stairs, and socles.

Species

Improved glue "Kreps" produced in several versions:

  • Reinforced. Due to its good ability to bond the surface of the tile and the base, it is used for laying heavy types of cladding.
  • Reinforced white. It has the same qualities as the previous modification, but its composition includes additional dyes, giving the composition a white color. Used for fixing tiles and mosaics of glass on the floor and walls.
  • Express. It stiffens faster than other compounds, as special substances are added to it, accelerating the drying process. On the tile, glued with this solution, you can walk already after 4-5 hours.
  • Super. Excellent bonding cladding material with metal, mineral, wood, glass and polymer bases.

This choice of compositions allows you to choose the best option for each case.

Cooking and storage

In order to prepare an enhanced cool composition, the dry mix “Kreps” is dissolved in water. This should be done clearly in accordance with the instructions: for 1 bag of dry matter will need 6 liters of water.

The cooking process begins with the preparation of the tank and filling it with water. Then the adhesive composition is filled up there and thoroughly mixed until all the lumps disappear. Mixing can be done manually or using a perforator with a special nozzle.

After mixing the composition, it is left to stand for 10-15 minutes and again mixed. The finished adhesive mixture must be used within 4 hours. After that, it loses its properties.

Work with adhesive composition

Before applying the glue, the foundation on which the tile will be laid must be prepared for lining. For this, the surface is pre-leveled and cleaned. It is important to minimize the risk of possible shrinkage and deformation of the base.

When all preparations have been completed, the reinforced glue “Kreps” is applied to the work surface with a notched trowel. The area of application must be calculated in such a way that in 20 minutes to completely lay the tile on it and have time to correct inaccuracies.

When making a floor covering with a massive slab material, the adhesive should be applied not only to the base, but also to the tile itself.

After installation of the floor covering (until the adhesive composition is completely dry), it is not recommended to subject it to mechanical stress. For the same period it is worth protecting the coating from water penetration.

Useful recommendations

Qualitatively perform the facing of the floor and walls with tiles using reinforced glue "Kreps" will help recommendations of professional masters:

  • Grouting on the walls should be done no earlier than 48 hours after laying the tile. For a floor, the waiting time must be at least 72 hours.
  • The choice of trowel should depend on the size of the tile. So, if the size of the facing material is 15x15 cm, a tool with teeth of 6 mm will be required. If the tile is larger, then the spatula must be taken with teeth in 8 mm.
  • When applying the adhesive, it is necessary to monitor the thickness of the layer. The optimal layer is not more than 4 mm. However, in the case where the size of the facing tile exceeds 30x30 cm, the adhesive layer can increase to 7 mm. It is possible to apply layers of up to 9 mm to an insufficiently flat subfloor glue, but it is necessary to carefully monitor the flatness of the surface with a level.

In addition, when working with the adhesive composition, it is necessary to observe safety precautions, use personal protective equipment.

If the composition gets on the skin or eyes, then the affected area should be thoroughly rinsed under running water.

Reviews

Reinforced glue for tiles "Kreps" has long been popular with both professional builders and those who make repairs on their own. Evidence of this can serve as many reviews of dry mixes "Kreps".

In their reviews, users note the ease of use of mixtures., as well as the convenience of their use: when applied to the wall, the glue does not crumble, does not creep and does not allow even a heavy tile to creep down.

No less positive feedback deserves the process of operating the coating, laid with the help of this adhesive composition. Even in conditions of high humidity and with strong temperature drops, the tile does not lag behind the surface even after a long time.

And one more important moment that attracts buyers is the optimal combination of price and quality of reinforced glue "Kreps". As well as its diverse range, allowing you to choose the composition that is best suited for each individual case.
