How to make the hallway with your own hands?
Trying to save money or realize their plan, without turning to designers and designers, many are thinking how to make a hallway with their own hands. This is quite an accessible matter, but it is important to take into account some principles and know all the details.
In appearance “entrance” room all your guests and even just random visitors will add the impression of the dwelling as a whole. Think carefully about the concept, the basic idea of the entire room. And then just get down to work when you make sure that the plan is practical and its embodiment will lead to an optimal result.
The hall, made by hand, in any case, more uniquely made to order. But freed from the "care" of designers and engineers of the furniture industry, will have to independently understand all the nuances.The main types of these rooms - corner, open, compartment and hinged, depending on the specific type of differ and the requirements for furniture.
In the corner room, absolutely everything is subordinated to the idea of maximizing the use of space, or rather, the empty corner. On the sides of the closet can open up shelves, in other places are placed thumbs and hangers classic look. Additionally, you can save the corridor area if the cabinet doors are mirrored.
An open variety of hallways contains the very minimum of furniture - there will not be a soft one, and sometimes a cabinet will not be found. If it is, it is relatively small, for hanging clothes use hooks and hangers, visible to all. The opposite is a room in the compartment format, in which they are invariably placed closets of the same name. It easily accommodates the personal belongings of everyone who lives in an apartment, sometimes it’s not even necessary to look for a place to wear for different seasons.
Among all materials, it is advisable to give preference to furniture panels - they are superior to simple boards made of pine and other wood species, do not contain synthetic resin or other artificial component. They have only one minus - this is a solid price.
The use of chipboard, plywood, drywall is attractive in those cases when the first place for you to save. Do not be afraid, however, to admit an error against the canons of style, the possibilities for designing modern materials are quite large.
If you can use MDF instead of chipboard or take ready-made parts from old furniture, that is exactly what should be done. This will allow to do the work with higher quality, to get an aesthetically complete result, and the furniture will be better in terms of environmental parameters. The use of scrap materials is much more convenient and easier than trying to use steel or aluminum pipes, because metal processing at home is quite complicated.
Finishing the veneer is not too heavy, but this material is expensive; choosing between melamine and laminate, you should definitely give preference to the second one, as more strong and long lasting.
When the material is selected, you need to decide on the dimensions of the future design (or several furniture designs).
Even if the size of the corridor is “mini”, try to place in it:
- Place for storing clothes;
- Shoe cabinet;
- Seat for comfortable changing;
- Several shelves for different things;
- Storage system of caps, umbrellas and packages.
All these functions can be performed by combined pieces of furniture that help save space. If there is an acute shortage of space, you should limit yourself to a compact floor or wall corner hanger connected to a shoebox, and a small soft seat. If a cabinet is installed, its minimum depth should be 40 centimeters (it doesn’t make less sense to do less). For the corner cabinet, the optimal parameters will be the length and width of 0.9 meters, height - 2.5 meters, but provided that the height of the ceiling allows.
Coloring furniture in the hallway is a very important moment in its design; According to designers, it is necessary to select it in harmony with:
- The color of the walls;
- Color characteristics of other rooms;
- The total area of the hallway.
Light colors always add not only space, but also a feeling of freshness, the room will look more modern. For narrow corridors stretched in length, brown and other heavy paints are categorically unacceptable. They will create the impression of being in a strange dark tunnel.If the area is large enough, the white walls will cause associations with the polyclinic or laboratory.
Conclusion: the furniture should not be painted in the same colors as the walls.
Door hinges and screeds, handles, mechanics for tilting doors are used. There are also bars for hanging hangers, shelf and drawer holders, shoe cartridges and boxes made of metal mesh.
Swing doors are most often hung on four-hinge hinges, and if a more compact door unit is required, furniture blinds made in Germany and Italy are used. It is not recommended to take corner braces, their appearance will not fit into any decent interior.
Be sure to need:
- Saw or electric jigsaw;
- Construction knife;
- Measuring tape;
Consumables need screws for furniture, corners and door hinges.
We make drawings and diagrams
It makes sense for both beginners and experienced home craftsmen to draw up drawings and diagrams, because even the most trained can make a mistake, do something wrong or miss an important circumstance.Immediately determine the dimensions and geometric configuration, with what types of furniture will be used. In a spacious room, you can put a wardrobe, and if there is not enough space, you will have to draw a corner hallway.
Features of filling
At a level below 70 centimeters, it is desirable to fix non-rolling out drawers, and baskets in the form of a grid (they are more convenient and do not collect dirt so much when storing shoes). Using modern brackets, you can put such a basket in the closet, much wider than themselves. Considering, again, the relatively small dimensions of the hallways, all components for furniture in them should be smaller than those used in other rooms.
Format country music It attracts the attention of designers for good reason, because it brings a sense of coziness and comfort into the room.
Scandinavian style - a combination of warm natural shades as accents and a general light background. The modernist style, also known as Art Nouveau, is distinguished by curved lines similar to the stalks of plants. The modern entrance hall does not have a certain framework, it can take the best from all other styles, and at the same time the design cannot be reduced to one of them.
Provence style profitably played up and emotionally strengthened just due to the decor of the old. But in the "Scandinavian" hallway unnecessary decorative elements are inappropriate, there should not be anything that would not be absolutely necessary. In the interior in the spirit of Art Nouveau, on the contrary, it is very useful to introduce luxurious gold plated details. If refined mirrors are put, bright color accents are made, it will be only a plus.
In the hall of the apartment "Khrushchev" it is desirable to use the furniture of minimalist design. Discard unnecessarily small details, try to ensure that all elements of the headset were made uniformly. Closed storage systems are preferable to open ones; they do not create a feeling of overcrowding and lack of taste. Only in the narrowest rooms does it make sense to put an open hanger instead of a closet or drawer. Visual softening of the corners and maximum smoothness of the lines are important requirements for the design of furniture for the corridor.
With all the beauty of natural stone, relief panels and other similar volumetric solutions, discard them - the absorption of space is too bad for the sensation from it.Important: do not use large patterns, they only spoil the impression. When trimming both furniture and walls, use only high-quality materials and structures that will not lose an attractive appearance for a long time.
How to do?
If it is decided to make the furnishings wooden, you will need furniture panels, boards with dimensions of 200x12x1.6 centimeters, a board rabbeted 200x24x1.8 centimeters, three-meter slats, plywood, hinges and handles. Depending on the specific idea, other components may be required. It is recommended to start work with the assembly of the drawer (dimensions, for example, 82x40x4 cm); the tops of the side walls in the corners are cut to narrow the lid compared to the main part. Self-tapping screws are used to connect the parts; below, the corners of the baseboards must be cut out. Face bar should be fixed with dowels.
Then you need to make a simple door (dimensions 40 to 40), drill holes for the hinges and install the part. Runners are made for a rolling out drawer in the upper part of the bedside table, they are cut out of plywood and fastened to the sides.
Next comes the turn of the cabinet lid (fastened to the dowels), it is required to drive short furniture nails about two thirds into the upper ends of the sidewalls. Attach the cover and press it, so the holes will be marked.They are drilled on the dowels and glue set cover. To grip the glue layer better, put a heavy load on top.
The next step is the manufacture of the table, which should be different from the previous one, its dimensions are 82x49x40 centimeters. Do internal shelves or not, and how, is up to you. From the sides, the structure is fastened to the screws, and the upper segment of the middle partition will be held by dowels. You will need to cut the doors, fix the hinges, prepare the front plate and grind for the baseboards.
It is not difficult at home to make the case itself with dimensions of 200x40x40 cm. The side, top and bottom elements are consistently formed, each of them, with the exception of the front slats, will be held by self-tapping screws. In the corners put plywood corners, giving the structure an additional margin of safety. Shelves installed in the case fall on the holders made of rivets with a partially cut off tip. Each door must hold three hinges.
A lattice wall is formed of planks; it is advisable to install the transverse rail in such a way that later it is attached to the hooks. Saw the space for the bedside table, and the top of the crates should take a shelf.To make holders for it, take just trim boards left over from previous work. All surfaces, even the inner ones, as well as the ends, must be thoroughly polished.
As you can see, there will be nothing difficult in this work for everyone who owns carpentry tools at the minimum level.
Advantages and disadvantages
The clear advantage of self-manufacturing hallway will be money saving. When there are children in the family, it is very useful to add them as well so that they will not grow up as whitegrass. The only drawback is the risk of error.
Successful examples and options
It is not too difficult to make furniture made of wood and put it in the hallway. In a large corridor, you can place it around the perimeter, and if there is not enough space, you will have to use the angular location. Options with mirrors and lighting to the cottage are hardly appropriate, such solutions are more appropriate to use in a full-fledged urban dwelling.
