Features of construction in the country house of a barn with a lean-to roof with the size of 3x6 m

It is well known that it is almost impossible to live without a shed at a dacha, as there is always the need to store various tools, building materials for the period of building a country house, equipment collected at the harvest site and much more. At the same time, the most popular format of such a structure is 3x6 m, and the most common architectural solution is a wooden building with a single-sided roof.

Site selection and design

A shed is definitely a subsidiary structure, therefore, when it is being constructed, architectural delights are irrelevant, and it is not necessary that it somehow stand out in the overall landscape design.

The most rational placement will be either its extension directly to the country house, or the construction of such a shed somewhere on the edge of the site. The place for its construction should be convenient, and the construction site is best organized where the soil is least suitable for planting.

A prerequisite should be the availability of a convenient driveway and an approach to such an ancillary room, and it should be located from the place of the main dacha works so that carrying tools, garden equipment and other massive objects into it is accompanied by the lowest physical costs.

Any construction, even not very difficult, should be started with a project. To address such a question to professionals is quite expensive and impractical, but handwritten drawings and sketches will be very helpful. Especially for calculating the amount of material and as a basis for technical solutions during construction, such a scheme is simply necessary.

It is also costly and unreasonable to hire professional builders for this job, because, in essence, every man with a minimum set of building skills can perform such work. Therefore, the construction of the barn should be done by hand.

Main material

The most budget and technologically advanced option would be the construction of such a shed of OSB plates. This abbreviation stands for oriented strand board. Multilayer material consists of 3-4 sheets. It is made of aspen wood chips, glued with resin with the addition of boric acid and filler of synthetic wax.

Such plates are used for wall cladding, as removable formwork for concreting, continuous roofing sheathing, floor fabrication and various supporting structural elements according to the type of I-beams.

This material has significant mechanical stiffness and high sound absorption. It is distinguished by its ability to withstand snow loads and wind sail. All these qualities allow the use of OSB-plates as a basis for various roofing materials.

Shed frame

After marking, clearing and leveling the construction site, it is necessary to equip the foundation. The simplest solution would be to manufacture it from the foundation blocks laid out around the perimeter of the structure. You can build a columnar foundation. For this purpose, the pits are dug, and a cushion for the installation of finished blocks in an upright position is laid on their bottom.

Bars can be made of concrete. They should be buried 0.4–0.5 m. Having marked the contour of the structure along a roulette wheel, they drive in pegs in the corners of the site and stretch a rope between these stakes, after which they mark the places for the installation of the pillars.

Holes for them are dug with a shovel, or they drill holes in the ground with a drill. A formwork is raised above, rising above the surface by 0.2-0.3 m. Then a gravel-sand cushion is arranged, reinforcement is constructed and pouring is performed.

Another option can serve as a strip foundation of concrete, poured into the formwork. The disadvantage of this method is very long waiting shrinkage and full setting of the concrete mix. If desired, you can not be limited to a rectangular design, and build a barn with a veranda, observing the overall dimensions of the building 6 x 3 m.

After the work on the base is completed, the lower trim is assembled and treated with an antiseptic composition. The floor of OSB or edged board is laid on this trim. The first frame rack is also installed here.It is fixed with a steel angle. To enhance the rigidity of the structure, a temporary strut is attached to the strapping.

After that, a sheet of OSB is attached to the base and to the first rack. To the bottom of the frame, the sheets should be fixed with a 5 cm indent. To this end, a bar is fastened to the bottom trim, on which the sheet is supported. This sheet is fixed, carrying further this control bar.

Next, install the second rack. It is attached to a pre-installed sheet. Now the strut is removed, and all manipulations are repeated in the same sequence.

In the same place, an upper lumber trim is assembled at the site, after which the entire structure is placed on racks and fixed, and then the truss structure is mounted, the sheathing is attached, and the shed is covered with corrugated flooring or some other roofing material.

Roof

To its construction start at the end of the frame assembly. It is necessary to calculate the length of the rafters. To this end, the length of bilateral overhangs, equal to 40–50 cm, is added to the inter-wall distance.

Then proceed to the manufacture of the main truss. To do this, a piece of the required length is cut from the board, a place under the recess of the fixture is tried on and marked, and the necessary number of rafters are made.

Rafter legs are mounted to the frame and are connected to one another with the help of a tight thread.

Installation of the remaining truss elements is made at a previously marked level. They are fixed with nails or a corner.

Waterproofing is mounted with a stapler with an overlap of 15 cm edges of the strip between them.

Then follows the device of the sheathing, cutting the roofing material and installing it on the outbuilding.

It should be borne in mind that the step between the individual rafters is 60–80 cm. Therefore, eight truss legs will be required for a 3x6 m shed.

Next, the frame is lined, the windows are fitted with frames and the door is installed.

The final stage is the painting of the structure, the manufacture of shelves, the supply of electricity and the manufacture of steps.

Thus, the construction of such a simple barn on its own is quite a feasible task. The only thing that should be remembered is the legally required distance from the neighboring possessions of 3 m and 5 m from the nearest road.
