Penoplex "Comfort": characteristics and scope of application

 Penoplex Comfort: characteristics and scope

Heat-insulating materials of the Penoplex trademark are products from extruded polystyrene foam, which belongs to the group of modern heat insulators. Such materials are most effective in terms of the conservation of thermal energy. In this article we will look at the technical characteristics of the insulation material Penopleks Comfort and talk about the scope of its use.

Features: advantages and disadvantages

Previously, such a heater was called "Penoplex 31 C". High technical characteristics of this material are largely determined by its cellular structure.Cells ranging in size from 0.1 to 0.2 mm are evenly distributed throughout the entire volume of the product. This distribution gives strength and high level of insulation. The material practically does not absorb moisture, and its vapor permeability is equal to 0.013 Mg / (m * h * Pa).

Insulation technology is based on the fact that polystyrene foams, enriched with an inert gas. After that, the building material under pressure is passed through specialized nozzles of the press. Plates are made with a clear geometry parameters. For a comfortable docking, the edge of the slab is made in the shape of the letter G. The insulation does not contain harmful substances, so the installation of the material can be performed without using protective equipment.

Specifications:

  • thermal conductivity index - 0.03 W / (m * K);
  • density - 25.0-35.0 kg / m3;
  • long service life - more than 50 years;
  • temperature range of operation - from -50 to +75 degrees;
  • fire resistance of the product;
  • high compression ratio;
  • standard dimensions: 1200 (1185) x 600 (585) x 20,30,40,50,60,80,100 mm (for internal heat insulation of the room use plates with thickness parameters from 2 to 10 cm, for exterior decoration - 8-12 cm, for the roof - 4-6 cm);
  • sound absorption - 41 dB.

Due to its technical characteristics, thermal insulation material has the following advantages:

  • high chemical resistance;
  • frost resistance;
  • large range of sizes;
  • simple installation of the product;
  • lightweight construction;
  • insulation "Comfort" is not exposed to mold and mildew;
  • Penoplex well cut through a painting knife.

Penoplex "Comfort" is not only not inferior to the more popular insulation materials, but even surpasses them in some indicators. The material has the lowest thermal conductivity and practically does not absorb moisture.

Negative customer reviews about Penoplex Comfort insulation are based on the existing material deficiencies:

  • the effect of UV rays has a detrimental effect on the material; it is imperative to create a protective layer;
  • insulation has low sound insulation;
  • oil coloring products and solvents can destroy the structure of the building material, it will lose its insulating qualities;
  • high cost of production.

In 2015, Penoplex began to manufacture new brands of material.These include “Penoplex Basis”, “Penoplex Foundation”, etc. Many buyers are wondering about the difference between Basic insulation and Comfort heaters. Their main technical qualities are almost the same. The only difference is the compressive strength factor. At the warming material “Comfort” this indicator is 0.18 MPa, and for the “Basis” - 0.20 MPa.

This means that the foam base "Basis" is able to withstand more pressure. In addition, "Comfort" differs from "Basics" in that the last variation of insulation is intended for professional construction.

Where is it used?

The performance qualities of Penfolex Comfort make it possible to use it not only in a city apartment, but also in a private house. If you compare insulation with other building materials, you can notice significant differences. Similar insulating products have a narrower specialization of application: insulation of walls or roofs.

Penoplex "Comfort" is a universal insulation that is used for the thermal insulation of balconies, foundations, roofs, ceiling structures, walls and floors. Also, insulation is ideal for thermal insulation of baths, pools, saunas.Insulation "Penopleks Comfort" is used both for interior construction and exterior.

It is possible to trim with the warming material “Comfort” practically any surface: wood, concrete, brick, foam block, soil.

Sizes of plates

Extruded insulation is available in the form of plates of standard parameters that are easy to install, and also easily cut to the required size.

  • 50x600x1200 mm - 7 plates in the package;
  • 1185х585х50 mm - 7 plates in the package;
  • 1185х585х100 mm - 4 plates in the package;
  • 1200х600х50 mm - 7 plates in the package;
  • 1185x585x30 mm - 12 plates per package.

Installation Tips

External wall insulation

  1. Preparatory work. It is necessary to prepare the walls, clean them from various impurities (dust, dirt, old coating). Experts recommend leveling the walls with plaster and antifungal treatment.
  2. Gluing of the warming plate is carried out with the help of glue solution on the dry surface of the wall. Adhesive solution is applied to the surface of the plate.
  3. Mechanical fixing of the plates is carried out by means of dowels (4 pieces per 1 m2). In those places where windows, doorways and corners are located, the number of dowels increases (6-8 pieces per 1 m2).
  4. A plaster mix is applied over the warming plate.For better adhesion of the plaster and insulation material, it is necessary to make the surface a little rough, grooved.
  5. Plaster can be replaced by finishing with siding or wood.

If it is impossible to perform thermal insulation outside, the insulation is mounted indoors. Installation is carried out in a similar way, but a vapor barrier is put on top of the insulation material. Foil polyethylene film is suitable for this purpose. Next, perform the installation of gypsum boards, on which it will be possible to glue the wallpaper in the future.

In the same way, we perform work on the insulation of balconies and loggias. The joints of the plates are glued with a special tape. After installing the vapor barrier layer, the joints are also taped, creating a kind of thermos.

Floors

Floor insulation “Comfort” under the screed in different rooms may be different. The rooms located above the basements have a colder floor, therefore, a greater number of insulating layers will be required for the thermal insulation.

  • Preparatory work. The surface of the floor is cleaned from various contaminants. If there are cracks, close them up.The surface should be perfectly flat.
  • Prepared floors are treated with a primer mixture.
  • For those rooms that are located above the basement, it is necessary to perform waterproofing. A mounting tape is glued along the perimeter of the room in the lower part of the walls, which compensates for the thermal expansion of the floor screed.
  • If there are pipes or cables on the floor, then the insulation layer is laid first. After that, a groove is made in the slab, in which further elements of communication will be located.
  • When the insulation plates are laid, it is necessary to install a reinforced polyethylene film over the layer. It is necessary to protect the insulating material from moisture.
  • On top of the waterproofing layer is laid reinforcing mesh.
  • The cement-sand mixture is being prepared.
  • Using a spade, a uniform distribution of the mortar over the entire floor surface is carried out; the layer thickness should be 10-15 mm. The applied solution is compacted with a metal roller.
  • After that, the reinforcing mesh is hooked with fingers, lifted. As a result, the grid should be on top of the cement mortar.
  • If you plan to install a floor heating system, then its installation should be carried out at this stage. The heating elements are laid on the surface of the base of the floor, the cables are attached to the reinforcing mesh using clamps or wire.
  • The heating elements are filled with the solution, the mixture is compacted with a roller.
  • By special beacons leveling of the floor surface is performed.
  • The coupler is left for 24 hours to fully cure.
